“IT WOULD BE EASIER IF HE WERE A RAPIST” WAS TOLD
Husna Sen, the wife of Deniz Hakan Sen, whom we interviewed by phone, told about her husband who was diagnosed with gastric cancer and sent to hospital to hospital like an exile. “They handcuffed my husband to bed who even wasn’t able turn in the bed.
They even made him unloaded his urine bag. He was dragged hospital to hospital because of flimsy reasons. They delayed his treatment. When I went to the courthouse to get a companion permit, they said, ‘It would be easier if your husband was a rapist or a murderer.’ As long as I live, I won’t let this case go. This is my last duty of loyalty to my husband.” She said.
Deniz Hakan Sen, a 42-year-old medical representative, was arrested on 1 October 2017 and sent to Silivri Prison. Taner Ozkaradeniz, the owner of a hotel in Mugla where Sen had worked before, reported him with the accusation of being a member of the ‘Hizmet Movement’. Although he did not use Bylock, his indictment included the accusations of being Bylock user and cancelation of Digiturk subscription.
Deniz Hakan Sen did not have any sickness in the first days of his imprisonment. He was subjected to psychological and bodily wear by relocating from one cell to another. Beginning in January 2018, he started to write petitions to the prison administration that he was ill.
According to his lawyer, he wrote about 40 petitions. Here are the 4 of the petitions that were written to his personal notebook which was given to his family after his death. (According to Husna Sen, her husband was writing petitions in his notebook first.)
